Prince: Balancing Faith and Stardom

prince musician belief[dropcaps]A[/dropcaps]t first glance, Prince appears to be the quintessential rock-star: flamboyant costumes, charismatic stage presence, and soaring rock-and-roll songs. However, a further examination into Prince’s lifestyle reveals not only a public leader, but also a spiritual leader as well.

In 2001, Prince became a member of Jehovah’s Witness, following a two-year discussion with fellow musician, personal friend, and Jehovah’s Witness, Larry Graham. “It’s like Morpheus and Neo in The Matrix,” Prince compared, explaining the process of understanding Jehovah’s Witness as less of a “conversion” and more of a “realization.”

Growing up in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, spirituality became an evident influence in his everyday philosophy and personality. In his first interview expressing his faith, Prince explained that prior to coming to the Jehovah’s Witness faith, he was in a position of seeking answers and truth, and that coming to terms with his spirituality changed the way he saw the world and everything around it, from life itself and even his own personal life.

One aspect in his life Prince acknowledges change in since becoming a man of faith is what he is most known for in the public eye: his music. Although Prince acknowledges that his music and lyrical content contains themes common to the rock-and-roll lifestyle, such as heavy sexual undertones, the amount of ideologies found in his music regarding faith, especially the music after his new-found faith, substantially outweighs the aforementioned.

Writer Touré explains in his book about Prince, I Would Die 4 U: Why Prince Became an Icon, that faith is at the core of much of Prince’s music, something fans may not be able to hear above the beats of his music, furthering that “the amount of discussion of sex is this much,” holding his hands a foot apart, “and the amount of discussion of religion and spirituality and God and Jesus is this much,” doubling the space between his hands.

“I was pretty wild in my younger days” admits Prince during his acceptance speech for an award at the 2010 BET Awards. “You don’t have to do what I did. You don’t have to make the same mistakes I made. The future is in your hands.”

Although maintaining the hectic lifestyle of an international music icon while making time to stay spiritually grounded may seem demanding, Prince handles both aspects of his life with success. Prince still plays sold-out concerts at venues around the world, and consistently releases newly-recorded music. At the same time, Prince still attends Kingdom Halls for service while evangelizing door-to-door around his Beverly Hills estate, according to bystanders.

Though fulfilling faith and stardom may prove to be difficult for many celebrities of his status, Prince credits this ability to stay true and rooted in his faith to his faith itself. “It [faith] is going to help you in all aspects of life” explains Prince in an interview, “once you can clean out the cobwebs, so to speak, and then you’re going to be able to see things more clearly.”

  1. woah… didn’t see that one coming.

although it’d be pretty cool to see him on your front porch

I think if Prince showed up at my door I might just hear these guys out. I’d act interested just long enough to get a picture with him or something, then tell him he’s crazy too and shut the door on him!

      1. That’s really great of. What a nice person you must be. Very grown up too. You must know everything they’re going to tell you before they even say it. Bravo. SMH Leople these days….

      2. Everybody with narrow minds and low iq’s feel like you. If your great big mind did’nt think of it, how could it be true, right. Cause you could have created everything, right? You could have created the universe and all of the life in it, cause your great right, well what have you created lately, a big mess of your life, right? Shut up and listen to someone besides your sad self genius.

    2. Something to ponder and re-think about it::: PRINCE an intelligent man seeking for the truth (as he says) his whole life, found it in the Bible with a two year studies with Larry Graham, and with all that knowledgement .. he found peace. I guess is something that every body must think about it.

  2. Good for him that he is so dedicated to his faith, but it seems hypocritical for him to try to keep up the rock star lifestyle and pop lyrics that put him there if he truly has a changed outlook on life. Things like that tend to give religion a bad reputation and get many claims of corruption and hypocrites in general. If all religious public figures really practiced what they preached, then I think we could actually get somewhere in this world.

    1. He has actually made huge changes in his performances and lifestyle because of his faith. He stopped performing a lot of his old hits that were sexual or inappropriate from his new beliefs, he doesn’t curse any more, and the new music he writes eschews the eroticism of his earlier work.

      1. He is no Jehovah’s witness… he needs to read his Bible and see that his lifestyle, his dress, and his actions do not reflect what God wants from us. He loves the limelight and the flamboyance of it all; he is not willing to do put away the old personality, but wants to incorporate it into his “faith”.

        1. Why would you do that unless you don’t like Jehovah god or is it you don’t like Prince one of Jehovah’s servants if that’s the case your one of Satan’s helpers have a good wicked life

        2. Coming to know our creator as a person far outweighs the temporary enjoyment of fame as prince came to realize ,now in the memory of the one who loves him dearly awaiting the real life to come here on earth!

        3. I was thinking the same thing because Christians do not act how he did but its a process I’m studying Jehovah witness i go to meetings but I smoke I’m trying to quit little by little its a process but never got baptize yet cus im not ready but one day I will soon god has help me in alot of other ways I left a lot of bad things behind and my faith is growing

      1. If christian all had to be a certain way than I think we could judge. But God created diversity, and Prince making changes to his music and lifestyle should be accepted, and leave the nitty gritty between him and GOd. After all, that’s all that matters now. 🙂

    2. Judgmental people are the most hypocritical one’s around. “Don’t judge me or don’t judge others”…while being the biggest judgements ones of all.

Prince did his best. Everyone has something great to say about Prince until the subject of HIS choice of being a Christian Jehovah’s Witness then it’s all garbage from there.

Prince rests well now…until that day.

    3. JW are taught to walk in accordance with God standards. They are imperfect people who continue to take in spiritual knowlege submissing to God ‘s guidance and approval. Continuing the learning process as until the harvest time of God in the coming days. He will gather his people and put safely to his storehouses just as Noah’s days. Doubts and questions connect to JW.org. website

  3. Prince if you were so true in the Jehovah Witness Religion you would not have been on the Grammys looking like you were drug out.

    1. He’s 57. He’s a vegan. He’s not on drugs. He also has really bad hips and will not get an operation Bc of the blood issue. Stop judging

  4. You Go Prince! You can be one of Jehovah Witness, Because I’m one Yes I’m been going to the Kingdom Hall since 1987 and I’m still going to this day, So Don’t give up please continue to go, Ain’t nothing out here but tears and pain. I hope one day we can work together out in the field service looking forward to that, /yeah who knows, And I’m also single too. I hope you get this Prince. Well I gotta go. I’ll talk to you later

    1. When I read people’s comments here it amazes me how they never looked fully into what the Jehovah’s Witnesses are really all about. Prince may still perform and there is nothing wrong with that as everyone has to make a living in life, but he has since cleaned up his life of his former ways, is married and settled with his belief. The witnesses don’t ‘scare’ anyone, as when they approach a house, it’s to speak with people to show them how this system of things will soon end as there is too much evil and wickedness that God will soon do away with. It doesn’t take just a few sentences here to explain what Jehovah’s Witnesses are all about, but if given a few minutes of your time, you will get to hear good news that’s being preached all over the world by them that the bible teaches and how this system of things will soon be gone with all it’s wrong doings, and what God has intended it to be from the beginning of creation. Prince who goes door to door is not weird or strange, he just wants to shed light on very important bible matters that God has instructed his people to do. I’m glad to know Prince is a part of this organization, as I am as well.

      1. Margaret Jaeger

And don’t JW also believe that Michael the Arch angel,is also Jesus..? Not what the usual KJ Bibles has said.

  5. You made a wonderful choice. You are not closing the door on the person standing on the other side, you are closing the door on God. Why must people always trash the JW’s. All you have to do is say not interested and goodbye. It seems they scare people!!!! just saying.

    1. Stop trying to get your time in on the Internet. I was one for 21 years. And was molested by another member and it was covered up. It’s a cult, no matter how you sugar coat it. And your religion kills children and adults everyday, refusing much needed blood transfusions. How many times has Jehovah witness predicted the end, by the holy spirit and it never arrived. 144,000 has already been reached, but members still keep claiming to be a new one. Did that number change too? This religion was made up in 1912. But it’s the “true” religion. Why do the bethel brothers wear such expensive watches, but claim to be nothing like the world? Its a joke! A cult. And how yoga pants on women give men ungodly thoughts. Hahaha maybe men shouldn’t think of their sisters like meat. Shovenistic pigs!

  7. I HAVE NOTICED AN EMBRACED CALMNESS THAT GLOWS FROM PRINCE. THE HOPE THAT THE SCRIPTURES GIVE TO MAN AND HIS KIND CAN BRING ONE SERENITY, THOUGH I DON’T KNOW PRINCE PERSONALLY, HE’S DISPLAY’S HIMSELF AS AN OUT RIGHT ADVOCATE FOR THE STUDY AND LEARNING AND APPLYING THE TRUTH IN JEHOVAH GODS WORD THE BIBLE. PRINCE HAS MADE GREAT CHANGES IN HIS LIFE THAT BENEFIT HIM GREATLY! I PRAY TO JEHOVAH THAT HE KEEPS THE FAITH CONTINUING TO SHARE AND DISPLAY HIS LOVE FOR OUR LOVING CREATOR JEHOVAH SHARING HIS KNOWLEDGE OF GODS WORD WITH THOSE WHO WISH TO KNOW AND A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR THE WORLD WIDE BROTHERHOOD OF JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES!

    1. Are you going to submit this on your time card as hours preached. Back when I was witness, being no part of the world meant you didn’t put things on the Internet like wordly people. You stayed conservative, humble and stuck to your own. It’s a money making machine now, it’s a total joke. And so are you

  8. I UNDERSTAND THAT PRINCE’S ART HAS MADE A LIVING FOR HIMSELF, BEING A CHRISTIAN DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO HAND OVER OR SILENCE TALENT THAT HAS EARNED A LIVING AND PUT YOU IN A POSSITION OF SHARING, HELPING OTHERS. DAVID THE SLAYER OF THE PHILLISTEN GIANT GOLIATH BY GODS HOLY SPIRIT SANG AND PLAYED THE HARP, OBVIOUSLY SINGING AND PLAYING OF AN INSTRUMENT WAS AMIDST HIS OTHER TALENTS, HE SANG FOR THE KING SAUL ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES HIS HARP PLAYING AND SONG SOOTHED THE KING. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IT’S WRONG TO SING ABOUT LIFE’S ENCOUNTERS, NOT SUGGESTIVE TYPE SONGS LIKE, DO WHAT YOU WANT, THAT I’VE HEARD IN MANY SONGS THAT ACTUALLY ARE SAYING IGNORE GODS BIBLE PRINCEPAL’ AND SERVICE TO HIM AND DO ANYTHING YOU DESIRE. A CHRISTIAN SEEKS AND ACHIEVES A CLOSE AND PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JEHOVAH GOD. EVERYTHING THAT ONE MAY FEEL, BECAUSE OF HIS ACTIVITIES IN REFERRANCE TO SERVICE TO GOD, PLEASING GOD, DOES NOT MEAN THAT ALL WILL CONDUCT THEMSELVES IN THE SAME MANNER AS THIS ONE. I ONCE READ IN HIS HOLY WORD THE BIBLE” IF IT;S A SIN FOR YOU.” CHRISTIAN ACTIVITIES SHOULD ALWAYS STEM FROM BIBLE PRINCIPLE’S. BUT LET’S USE DRINKING FOR EXAMPLE, SOME BELIEVE DRINKING ALCOHOL IS SIN BUT REMEMBER JESUS FIRST MIRACLE WAS TURNING WATER IN TO WINE AT A WEDDING THAT PROVE TO BE BETTER THAN THE WINE SERVED PRYOR. THE SIN OF ALCOHOL, OR EATING, OR ANYTHING TO THE EXTREME IS OFF BALANCE, DRUNKENNESS IS A SIN, GLUTTONY IS ALSO A SIN. BUT NOT THE DRINKING OF A STRONG BEVERAGE OR EATING TO SATISFY AND NOURISH THE BODY, IS NOT SIN ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE IN JEHOVAH GODS WORD THE BIBLE. IT’S VERY WRONG TO JUDGE BUT THEN MANY DO AND IT’S DISCOURAGING, HURTFUL AND WRONG!

    1. Put it to Jehovah witness to pick and choose scriptures that fit what they want. You know wedding rings are pagen. But Jehovah witness wear them, but they started with the pagens. You can’t just pick out whatever you want to serve you in a moment. The Bible says be no part of the world, but here you are on the worldly Internet, the Internet was created by an atheist, but your still using. Hypocrites!

  9. I am happy to say that I am a dedicated and baptized sister for over 31 years and I have to say that it is not very easy to be a servant of Jehovah as we all make mistakes sometimes, but Jehovah is greater than our hearts and I am very pleased that Prince made a wise and humble choice to serve our heavenly father Jehovah. He has really cleaned up his life and I have to tell Prince this: I am so very proud of you, and I know that Jehovah is too. In the new system so near at hand I will be looking forward to talk to you. Keep faithful to Jehovah my dear brother.

    1. That new system you claim of, has been.said to be near since the early 1900s. It has changed 4 times. But that’s okay, because your religion has it’s own made up bible, like every other religion pretending to be the one. And made to fit you as you want it too. You do know the creator of the Internet was an atheist. Wonder how you guys feel about that. O, that’s right…just do what benifiets you and then preach when it counts.

    2. Very sadly Prince never connected with Jesus in a personal relationship. Satan is the master/father of lies. JW is a cult and God does not recognize lost souls that are enslaved to false religions/faiths/cults/new age/wicca/satanism/ and anything else that is not of His perfect design. Hades is the temporary realm of torment that all spirits who passed from this earthly realm without having Jesus as their Lord & Savior enter into. Gods plan not man’s. Prince was a troubled soul that invented himself for worldly fame & fortune. What does a man or woman profit if they gain the whole world yet forfeit there soul! No eternal spirit or demon exist in Hell as of yet. The lake of fire will be activated after the great white throne judgment. Sheep on the right ,if truly a Gods child, will be welcomed into Heaven, while goats on the left are cast into the lake of burning sulfur for all eternity. Scary stuff folks and very real. Check out this great site and learn how not experience hell for your eternity. http://www.23minutesinhell.com Bill will educate you well about hell and how to avoid it!
Prince left a huge impression upon endless millions of people with his secular music. True Christ follower’s/servants choose to serve Jesus and not the gods of this fallen world. There is no room for opinion here because Gods word is His final command and not His opinion. He desires that NO ONE perish from this life without having truly connected with His son Jesus in a personal relationship and not just empty religion. John 3:3 / 3:5= Happy eternity Revelation 20:15=The eternal burn Jesus is the ONLY One who can cancel our eternal burn notice. He is the ONLY way.truth & life. NOTHING else qualifies in the final end.
I hope that Gods Holy Spirit will touch all individuals who read my comment. I pray for Gods comfort, peace & healing be upon all close family, friends, band members and fans of Prince. This life is but a vapor but eternity never ends.
Please take the time to seek the truth about all ways that claim to lead to God and then compare it all to Gods Holy word.
Look up to live & live ready.
Google the bible scriptures that I have presented and allow God to reveal His best plan for you.
      JOHN 8:51
Love in Jesus name to you all,
Dwight/ True follower/servant of Jesus and His gospel since 1982

      1. Satan fell from God’s grace at the time Adam and eve fell when he told the first lie, that if she ate from the tree she would not die. So before that Satan was still perfect, still in good standing with God. That took place just over 6000 years ago. Also in revelation it says that at the end of the 1000 year millennial reign Satan will be destroyed, which is very close to occurring. So that would mean that HE’LL (if it really existed wouldn’t have begun until after Satan sinned and would have had to end when Satan gets destroyed) So if he’ll existed it would only have lasted just over 7000 years, and with Satan destroyed, He’ll would no longer exist. Now if you think about it, does that make any sense?

    1. Yeah, but MJ was raised as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses as a child, Prince who decided to become one as a mature adult who understands religion wasn’t raised as a JW. So, even though you’re joking…i think…MJ couldn’t really say “Been there, done that.” because he was just a child who most likely didn’t care about or understand religion, like most children.

      1. Michael clearly did understand witness beliefs as you can tell that from “earth song” and “heal the world” which he wrote as a mature adult

  10. I have read all of the comments. Most were negative. If you just took the time to have a Bible study with them you would be amazed at the wonderful truths you would learn about our heavenly Father, Jehovah, and his grand purpose for the earth. You could have all of your questions about life answered such as, what happens to people when they die? Will the dead ever live again? Will suffering ever end? Will there ever be worldwide peace? Do all good people go to heaven? Is there really a fiery hell? Will sickness and death ever end? You can find truthful answers to these questions and many more by studying with Jehovah’s witnesses. So stop bashing Prince because he made a very wise choice, and now he has the ticket to everlasting. Life. W hat abut you?

    1. Exactly @Rita Johnson. I have been raised in Jehovahs house all 15 years that I’ve been living and though I’m not old enough to get baptized yet, i came here because i want to one day officially be a Witness however i also want to be a singer when i grow up and i came to see exactly how prince balanced jehovah and his music. Yes, if people actually took the time to have at least 1,2, or 3 studies and actually took the time to listen when we come door to door instead of pretending not to be home then i bet you just learning the basics about him would amaze you! And i hate people who downgrade people who are actually trying to come to him. Its not y’all opinion its his! You don’t determine who Jehovah expects. Only God determines whose hand he will hold-so unless you are God (which no human is) then its not your place to say anything! Your purpose and place is to encourage. Jesus (son of God) encourages you to wake up, encourages you to carry on your day, encourages you to deal with lifes struggles with his help, encourages you to put your faith in him, pray to him, and leave all you worries with him. So why not imitate him and take on his traits of encouragement and you do it. Jehovah is smart enough to know where a persons heart is and what their true desires are. He knows if a person is claiming to love him but really doesn’t its not your place to handle that person its his decision what he decides to do! Im only 15 years old and I know that! Come on now- the new world will be filled with people who encourage so you better start now!!

    2. Answers they made up! In their own made up bible the “new translation” I think that the other religions have been there and done that. Doesn’t make yours right. And your religion has been around, how long…o yea, one of the newest. Only since the 1900s. Jonestown made up there own religion too, look were that got them.

    3. JW’s are sadly lost and well deceived souls. Hades first after death and then the lake of fire one day after the final judgment. Just ask an ex- JW and they will tell you the same as I have stated here. Revelation 20:15=The eternal burn
Only Jesus can save us not cults/false faiths and all else that is influenced by Satan upon the carnal nature of man.

      1. the illustration of the wheat and the weeds says that God’s true people(the wheat) would be separated or break away from imitation Christians ( the weeds) during the harvest season ( the start of the last days) Then a global preaching work would begin( preaching the good news about God’s kingdom ( government in heaven) with Jesus ruling as Jehovah God’s appointed king, will soon act and replace all human government with God’s heavenly government. Also God’s heavenly government will destroy all the wicked and ungodly. ( All those who are not doing God’s will at that time.) That is the main purpose of what Armageddon is. Then Jehovah God’s original purpose to bring the earth to a paradise will be done. So the reason why God’s true people seem to only have been here for a short time is because they were trapped In false religion until the time of the end, when the last days began. Or in Jesus parable.he said the weeds would overgrow the wheat until God’s heavenly government would begin to act at the start of the coinclusion of this system of things. After Armageddon a new system of things will be here (Jesus millennial reign from heaven, governing the earth along with 144000 chosen co-rulers) those who Jehovah protects during Armageddon will be governed by God’s heavenly kingdom or(government). Next there will be a global resurrection of the majority of all who have died in the past. All those in their memorial tombs will here Jesus voice and come out. They will be brought back to life on earth. Also new scrolls are opened during this time. What these new scrolls contain are what Jehovah wants his people (those who make it through Armageddon) to teach the people being resurrected what God’s will is for them. What we all need to do during the 1000 year millennial reign of Jesus, in order to be in good standing with God. Now during this time we are all slowly brought back to perfection (spiritual and physically), guided by Jesus and the ,,144000 co-rulers ( kings and priests). Then as perfect humans all those on earth will face a final test when Satan is released from the abyss, so we are tested the same way Adam and eve were,( in a perfect state.) Those who are not deceived by Satan and pass the test will go on to enjoy everlasting life in perfection in paradise on earth and regain what Adam and eve lost. Those who fail are destroyed along with Satan and his demons. Then Jesus hands the heavenly kingdom (government) back over to his father and God Jehovah. Then we will be governed by Jehovah from heaven, the same way Adam and eve were governed before they fell from Jehovahs grace.

  11. I have Jehovah’s Witnesses (actually the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society) in my family and I love them dearly. But it is not biblical Christianity. (and yes, we have had some fascinating discussions and debates in the family on this subject, and yes, it CAN be done civilly and with love for one another). I’d love to chat with Prince about it. Might not get anywhere, but the discussion would be fun.

I have Mormons and Seventh Day Adventists in my family as well. Love them too. I’ll never forget one discussion that took place at my house with a Mormon missionary couple who came to the door. My father just sat and listened while I talked with them. As they shared their message, I would respond by saying, “Well, the Bible says….etc.” After about five of those interjections, the husband slammed his fist on our coffee table and shouted “I DON’T CARE WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS!!” At that point, my dad quietly spoke up and ended the conversation by saying, “Well, my son and I care very much about what the Bible says. I think it’s time to stop.” The poor guy. His wife looked like she was ready to strangle him.

It’s always said “Never discuss religion or politics.” But religion is all about truth claims, and if one’s eternal destiny indeed hangs on what one believes, it’s a pretty important thing not to discuss. The thing most non-believers or those from other faith traditions have a hard time grasping is the evangelistic component of Christianity. Jesus commanded His disciples to share the Gospel with the world, and evangelism, whether personal or en masse, is done in obedience to our Lord, not a personal desire to push ourselves. It’s much easier to stay quiet and keep our mouths shut, and we’d avoid a lot of trouble if we did. But we can’t and remain true to Jesus’ command. I see the increasing hostility in our culture to the biblical Christian message and teachings, and it’s sad to see. We’re not facing persecution in the U.S. like our brothers and sisters in countries like Turkmenistan, Iran, and Iraq etc, but that could change. It can happen here too, and frankly, I expect it eventually. Jesus warned us about it in advance.

If what we believe as Christians isn’t true, then there’s nothing to worry about and no harm done. If what we as Christians believe IS true, then it’s the most important issue in the universe and worth the discussion. My main problem these days is one of weariness – long story but there’s been illness in the family for several years and I’m the primary caregiver. I have a blog but haven’t done much with it the past couple of years. I know by posting this I’m taking a chance on igniting a debate and I have little energy right now for one, LOL. But I felt compelled to make the comment, and I hope it will be taken in the irenic manner intended.

  12. HIS name is not Jehovah . THE BIBLE STUDY IS NOT A STUDY BUT A PLANNED DIRECTED MAN LED WALK STRAIGHT TO KINGDOM HALL .WHICH SLOWLY CLOSES DOWN YOUR OWN CRITICAL AND INTUITIVE DISCOVERY OF Gods perfect profound truths and leads you to view all other Christians as apostates …even though cognitive dissonance is raising alarm bells, you can easily become a slave to the self appointed slaves of the watchtower. most jws have been told to not even go into another building of faith so have never felt the peace, sincerity and earnest prayer of hundreds of others seeking higher love from the very same book. this is more a faith of control and can perhaps take people to a different perspective of this mixed up world. I tried my best to follow the train of thought of the jw interpretation of Gods word but my heart couldn’t take it as it wanted to limit the overwhelming love, compassion and understanding of people I was beginning to let flow through me. Lovely people but not sure if Watchtower folk truly in tune with limitless love that could be the saving of us all. I hope with all my heart that those passing over…these creatives find there way to the truest loving God we could ever imagine.

    1. As far as the “saving of us all” is concerned, certainly Jehovah does not take “pleasure in the death of the wicked ones” (Ezekiel 33:11) but neither will ALL be saved at the end. Read Jeremiah 25:31-33. I’ll quote verse 33, however, please look it up for yourself in ANY translation. Verse 33 says: “And those slain by Jehovah in that day will be from one end of the earth clear to the other end of the earth. They will not be mourned, nor will they be gathered up or buried. They will become like manure on the surface of the ground.” Don’t be fooled if anyone says that “all people will be saved.” Many people believe that.

  13. I’m going to miss you my brother in faith your race is over until the resurrection he will call and you will answer I look forward to rev 21:3-4

  14. Real sad with the passing of Prince, although not a huge fan (not my style of music) he was a legend.
I was a baptized Jehovah’s Witness for 30 years and about Prince’s age; I’m glad if that belief helped Prince…amazing that Prince was able to do anything he wanted because that was his ‘living’ and my mother would not allow me to even play little league football for threat of ‘being part of the world’, but then JW’s love it when ‘profile’ people find the ‘Truth’ and they tell as many people as possible, somehow justifying that for them it’s not really ‘being part of the world’ just their vocation.

I suppose everything is open to interpretation even the beliefs of the Jehovah’s Witness organization.

Disgruntled? Hell yes…and mother who wouldn’t allow me to play football?…also threw out all my AC/DC albums saying they were from Satan.

I guess I was always on a Highway to Hell 🙂

  15. I got to hear about his conversion recently and it amazes me to see how he balanced his life and his sharp turn around. Now its so unfortunate that he’s late(just when I started to like him) and nobody has the right to judge the dude. He’s found himself a purpose and as a JW also I can tell you not many people can fathom you or your changes or what you presently stand for.

  16. Very good Chance Prince positive vibes Jehovah alone know your heart Jehovah give everyone a chance to learn you are sure of a grand ressurection

  17. Prince said in regards to Obama that he means well but that prophesy was prophesy and he was right.

The JWs mean well overall as well, yet scripture is scripture. The inaccurate foretelling of 1914 and later on 1975 isn’t something that can be papered over with other works and teachings.

Both books of Mark and Matthew state that the day or the hour is unknown and Jesus further warns of false prophets.

This is all very clear if you read your Bible, it is not a technicality that can be explained away.

False is false but it’s not my word you gotta take.

  18. Looking forward to see prince in jahs new world I found him very encouraging and he stood up he took a stand for the true God Jehovah ☺

  19. I was raised a Jehovah’s witness. I am thankful that the Lord opened my eyes to the truth and broke those chains of religious bondage. I am a born again Christian on my way to heaven.

    1. Sherry, what are you going to do when you get there? Since we as humans know nothing about spirit life, it would be difficult for you to answer that question, however, we do know about earthly life. Imagine being eventually perfect and living in a perfect paradise some day, as God intended for us in the first place. That’s what you may be missing out on.

  20. With Prince’s passing away there is much talk positive as well as negative. We need to be careful and bridle our tongue. In the end, Jehovah knows if Prince served him faithfully. Jehovah knows we are imperfect and does not expect us to be perfect but if we earnestly seek JH by maintaining our spirituality through personal study, meetings, assemblies and the preaching work then we will have success at worshipping our loving Heavenly Father JH.

  21. i am proud of prince for his faith to the end, we know you are just sleeping in death waiting for that day when you will hear his voice and resurect to life in new system of thing…i am proud to be JW.ORG.

  22. It was a shock to me to hear that Prince was a Jehovah’s Witness. I had no idea. It doesn’t seem to me that he was a true Jehovah’s Witness. He doesn’t fit the profile. Believe me I know. I was raised a Jehovah’s Witness. From the time I was born until I was old enough to get the hell out. If he was really a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation he would of been shunned for being the artist he was. He shouldn’t of associated with anyone outside the JW organization, he should of put all his efforts into the Truth instead of this music, mentioned Jehovah’s name every chance he got and told everyone he come into contact with that they need to convert so they can live in the new system, I loved Prince for the musical genius he was. I think he was way to smart to be brainwashed fully by the JW organization.

  23. Armani, we don’t hate anyone, even if they do downgrade us….The Bible says this would occur. Their not downgrading us, we’re just the messenger, their downgrading our father, and hearts are being read.

  24. I am ask this question in all sincerity with no malice – What about his concert for Black lives matter? the release of a CD for Baltimore? and his acceptance speech at the grammy’s (I could be wrong which award show) but he said ‘”Albums still matter. Like books and Black lives, albums still matter. Tonight and always.” There was no mistaking his support. He also gave money to Freddie Gray via Rev. Al Sharpton and he was back to being very funky, full afro, the crazy clothes the 3 eyed sunglasses. And you could kind of see it on Arsenio Hall when he talked about the record companies taking 80% of their profit and then ‘expect them to rebuild their communities themselves’. Also on one of his acceptance speeches he said that people don’t have to do it like he did and that the future is in the youths hands. NOT something a JW would ever say. I honestly think he was getting disillusioned toward the end.

No JW that I know of and in no publication of theirs is it not at least a public rebuke for being involved in political issues. There were even articles by the Huffington post that said he was no longer neutral on politics. If he ‘erred’ and was ‘repentant’ he would have had to come out publicly.

He also dated bria valente for 3 years that is a really really really long time for a witness. They usually don’t like you dating that long. She walked away from him. I wonder if it is because he was having a crisis of faith because all this behavior started after they broke up.

I don’t think he ever left God that is kind of obvious but I wonder if he was questioning the JW religion.

In all sincerity isn’t his support of balitimore and black lives matter and all that a direct, not a gray but a direct violation of JW beliefs?

I do not want to hear JW bashing. I am truly just baffled by it and asking sincerely.

    1. Please excuse the typos. And one other point. One of the founders of Black Lives Matters is an anti Jehovah’s witness who is a lesbian. ??????????????????????????????
